Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.
We accept credit card payment. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.
We accept Visa and Mastercard. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. You may send your credit card information via phone, fax, snail mail or over the Internet.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.
Shipping And Handling
< The calculation of shipping charges straight from the website is almost impossible to achieve if we are to be fair to our customers. We could levy a fixed charge per item but this would lead to excessive shipping charges to our customers who have ordered multiple items. Our policy on shipping is that we will deliver our customers order at cost to us or less. In order to achieve this aim a degree of trust must exist between both parties, Alternative Aquatics and our customer.
THEREFORE with this aim in mind we have decided to adopt the following shipping pricing policy.

The above prices are based on a 2 - 3 day delivery, if a next day or timed delivery is requested this will be subject to a surcharge based on the service required and destination. The shipping costs for overseas deliveries have to be calculated by our carrier for each order. We will advise you by e-mail of the actual shipping cost for your approval prior to shipping.The order will be dispatched after authorisation for a further payment is recieved. Should the surcharge be significantly higher than our standard estimate, we will advise you by e-mail of the actual shipping cost for your approval prior to shipping.The order will be dispatched after authorisation for a further payment is recieved. Should the customer not give his authorisation the order will be cancelled and his credit/debit card re-embursed. The customer is responsible for all local costs,taxes and duties.
DAMAGE OF GOODS IN TRANSIT
Damage of Goods in transit can and does occur. We would recommend that on reciept of your order you sign for them as UNCHECKED. When you sign the couriers form without adding the word UNCHECKED you are signing that the goods were recieved by you in GOOD CONDITION. It is extremely important that you sign for the goods as UNCHECKED or if there is any obvious damage to the packaging sign for the goods as DAMAGED PACKAGING. If this is not done then we cannot claim for any damage caused from the carrier, therefore, we cant accept any responsibility for damaged goods that have been signed for by the customer as recieved in good condition. Please Note when asking someone the recieve the goods on your behalf be sure to tell them about signing as UNCHECKED.
We will endeviour deliver your order right away. We will normally send your order to you <next> business day or advise you as to the delivery date if the unit is a non stock or specially manufactured item. International orders dealt with as per the customers request and can be received in under <5> days. unless a slower form of delivery is requested.
If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
For Retail orders made from the UK to the UK or the European Union, 17.5% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free. The purchaser is responsible for all local taxes, duties and customs charges
Credit Card Security
When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

If You Change Your Mind
Every product sold by Alternative Aquatics is backed by our 14-day money-back guarantee. If you change your mind about an item or would like to change its size or type, simply return it to us within 14 working days of receipt. The item must be returned with the receipt sent with the goods. We recommend that you obtain proof of delivery when returning goods to us and also consider insurance to cover the cost of loss by your carrier.
Provided that the item is returned in clean condition, unused, with all parts present and in its original packaging, the purchase price will be refunded. You should allow up to 14 days from receipt of your returned goods at our premises for your refund to be processed. We will normally refund you using the same payment method that you used to purchase the goods. Postage and packaging charges will not be refunded and customers are responsible for meeting the cost of return postage. Where goods were sent to you free of delivery charges we reserve the right to charge for the original delivery using Royal Mail rates or our normal carriers rates (Interlink Express) whichever is the least. This is does not affect your statutory rights.
If the goods were delivered in a damaged condition or become faulty in service
Alternative Aquatics will refund the full purchase price including postage and packing of an item which is delivered in a damaged or faulty condition. We will also refund the full purchase price including postage and packing of an item which develops a fault within a period of 12 months from delivery or longer if so stated on our web site (other than due to normal wear and tear, failure to follow instructions or misuse).
Alternatively, and at your option, Alternative Aquatics will replace the item with the same, or a similar product (subject to stock availability). Simply ring, e mail or fax us and we will arrange to replace damaged or faulty goods on receipt of the said damaged or faulty goods
Where damaged or faulty goods are required to be exchanged before we are in receipt of the said goods we will request payment in full including postage & packing for the replacement goods. A full refund including postage & packing will be made within 7 days using the same payment method that you used to purchase the goods, providing the returned goods have been delivered to you in a damaged condition or found to be faulty within the warranty period.
Alternative Aquatics reserve the right to refuse or issue a refund/replacement item and to recover the cost of the returns delivery from you in the event that the item is found to have suffered damage after delivery or has been misused or used other than in accordance with the instructions or if the problem is due to normal wear and tear. We do ask that damaged or faulty items are returned promptly. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Canceling your order
If you wish to use your statutory right to cancel your order for a refund, you must tell us in writing within 7 working days of receipt of the item and you must return the goods to us. (See below for returns instructions.) If you wish to use your statutory right to cancel, you will need to write to us at:

Please state your receipt number, relevant item number or description and date of purchase. Certain goods are excluded from this statutory right to cancel; including fish food, fish medication and pond treatments that have been opened, CDs & DVDs where the manufacturers seal has been broken, goods which have been specially manufactured to a specification agreed with the customer and goods which have come into contact with water containing fish
